Joint Statement of the Party Serbesti Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Independence Movement

In Condemnation of the Recent Executions in Iran and the Ongoing Policies of Suppression Against Non-Persian Nations

Following the execution of six Arab Ahwazi political prisoners in Sepidar Prison of Ahwaz and one Kurdish political prisoner in Ghezel Hesar Prison, the Party of Sarbasti Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Independence Movement strongly condemn this act as a clear example of the continuation of the systematic, identity-hostile, and anti-human policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran against non-Persian nations.

The recent executions did not take place within a fair and transparent judicial process, but rather as the result of show trials, forced confessions under torture, and a complete violation of the principles of due process. These actions constitute a gross breach of Iran’s international obligations, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), the Convention Against Torture (CAT), and the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), all of which emphasize the sanctity of life, freedom of thought, and the right to a competent court.

These executions are part of a long-term political strategy aimed at weakening national identities and consolidating Iranian external colonial domination over non-Persian nations — a strategy that, since the beginning of the twentieth century, has been imposed in various forms upon the Arab, Kurdish, Baloch, Caspian, Turk, Turkmen, and other nations under occupation within this territory. The Islamic Republic of Iran, continuing the same centralist and nation-hostile policies of previous regimes, silences every voice of justice and every political, civil, or cultural demand under labels such as “separatist,” “spy,” and “enemy of God.”

The Party Serbesti Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Independence Movement emphasize that the issue of executing political prisoners is rooted in the denial of nations’ right to self-determination. As long as non-Persian nations are deprived of their right to independence and political sovereignty, the cycle of repression, torture, and execution will persist.

The experience of the past century has shown that the concentration of power, the denial of national and cultural diversity, and the dominance of totalitarian ideology form the foundation for the reproduction of structural violence and the continuous violation of human rights in these occupied lands.

While expressing deep solidarity with the families of the executed prisoners in Ahwaz and Kurdistan, we remind the world that the liberation of no nation from subjugation is possible without the liberation of all other nations sharing the same destiny. The bond between the pains and aspirations of the Arab, Kurdish, Baloch, Caspian, Turkmen, Turk, and other oppressed nations constitutes the essence of a common struggle for freedom and justice.

Therefore, we call upon the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, the European Union, the European Parliament, and the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, Ms. Mai Sato, to:

  • Establish an immediate international fact-finding mission to investigate the situation of prisons, judicial processes, and cases of torture and execution in Iran;
  • Implement international accountability mechanisms against judicial, security, and political officials responsible for the systematic violation of human rights;
  • And examine the possibility of referring Iran’s case to the International Criminal Court (ICC) based on the principle of universal responsibility regarding crimes against humanity.

The Party Serbesti Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Independence Movement believe that only by ending the occupation of the lands of non-Persian nations and the termination of Iranian colonialism, and through the establishment of free, democratic national systems born from the will of these nations, can the cycle of execution, discrimination, and political violence in the Middle East be brought to an end.

With unwavering faith in the right to self-determination, we insist that freedom and justice cannot be realized within the framework of an occupying power, but through the establishment and consolidation of the sovereign states of these occupied nations.

The end of domination and the beginning of Sarbakhoyî and Serbesti (independence and freedom) of the nations mark the dawn of lasting peace in the Middle East.
