Two independence-seeking movements in East Kurdistan united and announced that from now on they will continue their struggle and efforts within the framework of a single party.
The Kurdistan Independence Party and the Kurdistan Independence Movement, after a serious process, through meetings and mutual understanding, responsible and purposeful political and organizational dialogue, and after reaching a comprehensive strategic agreement on how to manage the joint structure, the principles and foundations of the basic line, the program, the statute, and the new leadership structure, announced their union.

Official Statement on the Unification of Two Independence-Seeking Forces: “The Kurdistan Independence Movement” and “The Kurdistan Independence Party”
Freedom-loving people of Kurdistan!
Parties, organizations, and figures!
Activists, members, and all those devoted to the independence of Kurdistan!
In these sensitive circumstances, we are pleased to announce that we in the “Kurdistan Independence Party” and the “Kurdistan Independence Movement,” after a serious process, through meetings and mutual understanding, responsible and purposeful political and organizational dialogue, and after reaching a comprehensive strategic agreement on how to manage the joint structure, the principles and foundations of the basic line, the program, the statute, and the new leadership structure, have united. By this means, we inform the people of Kurdistan and public opinion of the following:
Both political sides, the Kurdistan Independence Party and the Kurdistan Independence Movement, have officially united, and from now on we will continue our political, national, and organizational activities within the framework of a new single party under the name of:
“Kurdistan Independence Party”
This decision, beyond being an organizational agreement between two political currents, is a historical, national, and responsible response to the will of our nation on the one hand, and to the sensitive conditions and the decisive current stage of East Kurdistan and the Middle East as a whole on the other. In the current situation, as the region is facing war and tension, geopolitical changes, shifts in the balance of power, and moves toward redesigning and remapping the region, as well as the role and influence of global and regional actors in the Middle East, Kurdistan is emerging more than ever as one of the main actors in regional transformations. Therefore, we have come to believe that the fragmentation of independence-seeking forces is no longer capable of responding to the needs of this stage, and that national unity, a common voice, and political unification among independence-seekers are an immediate and historical necessity. Likewise, achieving the goals of the Kurdish nation requires unity of will, cohesion of ranks, concentration, and the mobilization of the national capacities of all individuals and forces in Kurdistan.
On this basis, with a sense of responsibility toward the discourse of independence, with a sense of responsibility toward the suffering, sacrifices, and national aspirations of our nation, and with a sense of responsibility before history, we take this step together so that, with greater strength, broader legitimacy, and a clearer horizon, we may continue the political and national struggle for the freedom and independence of Kurdistan.
Our intellectual foundations and our political objective are as follows:
Our union today is built upon a clear, explicit, and unwavering conviction. The Kurdish nation is a nation that possesses the right to self-determination, and this right is a historical, natural, political, and legitimate right that no authority can deny or take away.
We in East Kurdistan believe that the right of the Kurdish nation to self-determination must be recognized; that the Kurdish nation must possess its own political sovereignty; and that the struggle, effort, and organized endeavor to establish an independent state of Kurdistan is a legitimate, national, and historical objective. From this perspective, independence for us is not a temporary slogan; it is a national project, a historical necessity, and the strategic horizon of our struggle and efforts.
This union reflects and expresses several important truths:
1) We demonstrate and prove that independence-seeking forces can, while preserving political dignity and honor, through dialogue, mutual understanding, responsibility, and an understanding of the higher interests of our nation, reach unity.
2) From today onward, relying on a unified structure, shared leadership and guidance, a clear program and law, and a unified political will, a new stage in the political struggle of the independence movement begins.
3) This union has been achieved with the aim of strengthening the discourse of independence, increasing organizational capacity, expanding relations with our nation, and raising the political weight and significance of our party and of the discourse of independence in the future equations of East Kurdistan.
4) Through this act, we once again emphasize that the supreme national interest of the Kurdish nation takes precedence over any narrow party or personal interest.
The Struggling and Proud Nation of Kurdistan
This step is a response to your historical expectation for cohesion, closer cooperation, and the unity of independence-seeking forces and movements. We know very well that our nation, over the past decades, has paid a heavy price for freedom, independence, political dignity, identity, survival, and its national existence. Today, our duty is to continue this path with greater strength, political maturity, organizational unity, and renewed passion, toward a clear national horizon.
We are committed, and we pledge, that our unified party will be the clear voice of the national will, a true defender of the rights of the Kurdish nation, and an organized instrument for advancing and promoting the cause of independence.
On this occasion, we call on all political forces and parties, women, political and civil activists, public figures, intellectuals, youth, all classes and segments of Kurdistan’s society, and all those who believe in the independence of Kurdistan, to take this historical opportunity seriously. Let us be each other’s supporters, comrades in the same front, and partners in struggle. Let us set aside ideological and intellectual differences at this stage and gather around our shared national and patriotic points. With responsibility and political courage, let us move toward forming a broader and stronger front of independence-seeking forces. This time, with a unified, organized, and national will, we must take our political sovereignty into our own hands and achieve independence and the building of the independent state of Kurdistan; we must shape the future in the interests of our nation.
We in the Kurdistan Independence Party, following this historical union, once again pledge to our nation that:

Relying on the will of our nation and with hope for a free and independent future for the Kurd and Kurdistan, we move forward together toward a clear horizon.
Victory to the liberation struggle of the Kurdish nation for the foundation and establishment of the independent state of Kurdistan.
