Statement of the Independence Party of Kurdistan and Party Sarbasti Kurdistan regarding the execution of “Yaghoob Karimpour,” “Naser Bakerzadeh,” “Mihrab Abdullahzadeh,” and the continuation of the Islamic Republic’s crimes against the Kurd nation

According to reports, on Saturday, the 12th of Banamarr 2726 of the Kurdish calendar, two political prisoners — Naser Bakerzadeh, a Kurd political prisoner, and Yaghoob Karimpour, an Azerbaijani Yarsani political prisoner — were secretly executed in Urmia Central Prison on fabricated charges of spying for Israel, based on forced confessions extracted under torture. Furthermore, in the early hours of Sunday, the 13th of Banamarr, another Kurd political prisoner named “Mihrab Abdullahzadeh” was executed in Urmia Central Prison.

We, as the Independence Party of Kurdistan and Party Sarbasti Kurdistan, condemn in the strongest possible terms the execution of these three political prisoners — Yaghoob Karimpour, Naser Bakerzadeh, and Mihrab Abdullahzadeh — by the judicial and security apparatus of the Islamic Republic of Iran. We consider this crime to be part of the regime’s ongoing policy of repression and political revenge.

The Iranian regime has once again shown that it has no answer to the voices of freedom, justice, and human dignity other than imprisonment, torture, forced confessions, and execution. The execution of these prisoners is a clear sign of the fear and weakness of a regime that relies on killing and intimidation in order to preserve its power.

This crime is not separate from the general policy of the Islamic Republic toward the Kurd nation.

Over the past years, in addition to repressing, imprisoning, and executing Kurd activists in East Kurdistan, the Iranian regime has repeatedly targeted the bases and camps of East Kurdistan political parties based in South Kurdistan with missiles, drones, and terrorist attacks. These attacks have not only led to the martyrdom and injury of many Peshmerga fighters and civilians, but have also targeted the security and sovereignty of South Kurdistan through the war-mongering policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On one hand, the Islamic Republic of Iran places political prisoners under pressure, torture, and the threat of execution; on the other hand, it attacks the bases of Kurd parties in South Kurdistan. These two policies are, in reality, two sides of the same strategy: to silence the voice and national demands of the Kurd nation, to destroy Kurd political organizations and forces, and to prevent the expansion of the struggle for freedom, independence, and the right to self-determination.

Today, the prisons of the Islamic Republic are filled with political prisoners, civil activists, women, youth, freedom-seekers, and especially Kurd activists — prisoners who may at any moment be sent to the gallows and executed on fabricated charges through show trials.

The danger of the execution of political prisoners in Iran is real and can occur at any moment. Silence in the face of these crimes paves the way for further crimes.

The Independence Party of Kurdistan and Party Sarbasti Kurdistan emphasize that imprisonment and execution will neither break the will of the Kurd nation nor stop the freedom-seeking struggle of our people.

The Iranian regime may hang and execute the bodies of Kurd fighters and activists, but it cannot suffocate or execute the will, demand, and aspiration of Kurdistan for freedom and independence.

We call upon the United Nations, international human rights organizations, democratic governments, free media, and global public opinion not to remain silent in the face of the wave of executions and repression of political prisoners, as well as the attacks and aggressions of the Iranian regime against South Kurdistan.

The international community must hold the Iranian regime accountable for political executions, violations of prisoners’ rights, attacks on the bases of Kurd parties, and threats against the security of the region.

The Independence Party of Kurdistan and Party Sarbasti Kurdistan, while expressing their deepest sympathy to the families of Yaghoob Karimpour, Naser Bakerzadeh, Mihrab Abdullahzadeh, and all those who have sacrificed their lives on the path of freedom, declare that the path and cause of our martyrs will continue. We will neither forget the blood of the martyrs of Kurdistan nor allow it to remain unanswered. This blood will give new strength to the struggle of the Kurd nation for freedom and independence.

May their memory and names remain eternal, and may their path and cause continue with many followers.

Long live the liberation struggle of the Kurd nation for freedom and independence.
