On Sunday, the 3rd of Jozardan 2726 in the Kurdish calendar, corresponding to 24 May 2026, the leadership delegations of the Kurdistan Independence Party and The Ahwazi Democratic Popular Front held a high-level meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Ashtyako Pourkarim, Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Independence Party, delivered a comprehensive address on the situation in the region, the ongoing changes in the political map of the Middle East, and the issue of stateless nations and occupied homelands, including the Kurdish people, the Baloch, the Ahwazi Arabs, the Azerbaijani Turks, the Turkmen, and the Caspian peoples. He also presented a detailed overview of the objectives of the meeting.
The Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Independence Party emphasized that the purpose of this meeting was to further strengthen rapprochement among the independence-seeking forces and movements belonging to the non-Persian nations whose occupied homelands are located within the artificial and constructed geography known as Iran.
Afterwards, Mr. Salah Abu Sharif Al-Ahwazi, Secretary-General of The Ahwazi Democratic Popular Front, spoke about the necessity of broader rapprochement and cooperation among the forces and movements belonging to the non-Persian nations. He also addressed the situation in the region and the war involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
The Secretary-General of The Ahwazi Democratic Popular Front stated: This war between Iran, the United States, and Israel is not merely a war waged by the United States and Israel against Iran; rather, it is also part of our own struggle against the Iranian regime. The elimination of Khamenei and senior officials of that regime is also in our interest and serves our cause.
In another part of the meeting, the leadership delegation of the Kurdistan Independence Party, consisting of Mr. Ashtyako Pourkarim, Secretary-General; Salah Sultanpanah, member of the Political Bureau and Head of Public Relations; Goran Dashti, member of the Political Bureau; and Sirwan Karimi, member of the Central Committee, presented the views and positions of the Kurdistan Independence Party regarding the regional situation, the war involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, and related developments.
Likewise, the leadership delegation of The Ahwazi Democratic Popular Front, consisting of Mr. Salah Abu Sharif Al-Ahwazi, Secretary-General; Dr. Faisal Al-Ahwazi, spokesperson of the Front; Tahir Abu Nidal Al-Ahwazi, member of the Political Bureau and Head of Relations with Arab countries; Tahir Al-Tamimi, member of the Political Bureau and Head of the Front’s relations with Ahwazi forces and organizations; Tawfiq Mansouri, member of the Political Bureau and Head of Relations with the forces and organizations belonging to nations with occupied homelands; and Nader Al-Ahwazi, Administrative Officer of the Front’s Coordination and Organizational Committee, raised a number of topics and questions concerning the Kurdistan Independence Party, the issue of nations with occupied homelands, and the situation in the region. These were answered by the Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Independence Party and the Secretary-General of The Ahwazi Democratic Popular Front.
The leadership delegations of both sides emphasized the continuation of relations and the strengthening of bilateral ties. They also put forward a number of important proposals for joint work, including:
Establishing and organizing a joint conference for all nations with occupied homelands within the artificial geography of Iran.
Drafting and signing a memorandum of understanding for bilateral cooperation.
Expanding bilateral relations and cooperation in order to organize and ensure the participation of both sides in international meetings, conferences, seminars, and other political and diplomatic activities.
