Message of Condolence from the Kurdistan Independence Party on the Martyrdom of Several Peshmerga and Guerrillas of Kurdistan, and in Condemnation and Exposure of the Crimes of the Occupying Iranian Regime

According to reports, on the night of the 6th of Pushpar, 2726 in the Kurdish calendar, in the village of Gagesh, affiliated with the city of Mahabad, a clash took place involving the guerrillas of “YRK,” the military wing of PJAK, and four guerrillas affiliated with PJAK sacrificed their lives.

On the other hand, on Wednesday night, the 10th of Pushpar, in the village of Qezqepan, three kilometres from the city of Piranshahr, a clash occurred between a group of Peshmerga from the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan and the forces of the Iranian regime. As a result, six Peshmerga of this party—Karo Hormozyari, Fardin Changizi, Mohammad Khaki, Abdullah Mohammadpour, Twana Osmani and Mohammadamin Bayazidi—were martyred.

The Kurdistan Independence Party, while expressing its grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of a group of devoted sons of Kurdistan in Piranshahr and Mahabad, extends its condolences to the proud families of the martyrs, to the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, to PJAK and the East Kurdistan Defence Units, to the members, cadres, Peshmerga, guerrillas, and to the entire Kurdish nation.

Through this crime against our people, the occupying Iranian regime has once again demonstrated that, in the face of the legitimate demands and freedom-seeking will of the Kurdish nation, it has no answer other than repression, terror, violence, killing and massacre.

Before the self-sacrifice of this group of Peshmerga and guerrillas of Kurdistan, we bow our heads in respect and reverence. They were among the devoted children of our nation; individuals who gave their lives for freedom, for the protection of dignity, and for the demand of the national rights of the Kurdish nation. Therefore, their blood must neither be forgotten, nor must we allow their blood to be shed in vain.

The Kurdistan Independence Party, while condemning the attacks of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the occupying Iranian regime, declares that the principal responsibility for bloodshed, instability and violence in Kurdistan lies with a regime that has occupied the land of Kurdistan and, for decades, through policies of execution, imprisonment, terror, forced displacement, impoverishment of the people and militarisation, has waged a continuous and systematically planned war against the Kurdish nation.

The return of the Peshmerga forces to the interior of the eastern part of the homeland demonstrates the truth that, although the regime imagines it has occupied and militarised our homeland, it can never fully control it. Whenever the Peshmerga forces and the people of Kurdistan will it, they can turn the country into hell for the occupiers and the collaborators.

We hope that in the future, the redeployment of Peshmerga forces will be organised and planned in such a way that they suffer no harm, or the least possible harm and loss.

The unity and common struggle of the political forces of East Kurdistan can become a means of strengthening the connection between the capacities inside and outside the country, as well as preventing irreparable losses and damages.

During the war of Israel and America, the Iranian regime was in a weaker position, and the balance of power in the region was undergoing change. At that time, it was possible to inflict more effective damage on the enemy at a lower cost. At present, however, as the Iranian regime has found a greater opportunity than before to reorganise itself after the temporary ceasefire, it is more eager than ever to kill and harm the people of Iran in general and the people of Kurdistan in particular. Therefore, it is incumbent upon all forces of Kurdistan, through unity and common struggle alongside the fighters inside the country, to bring this regime to its knees in a manner that requires the least possible bloodshed.

Under the special circumstances of the present moment, the formulation of a national plan, political coordination and logistical support are among the important necessities that must be implemented.

The Kurdistan Independence Party, while reaffirming the legitimacy of all forms of struggle, including firm, organised and planned armed struggle, emphasises that the resumption or expansion of armed struggle is a very great, sensitive and fate-deciding decision. A decision of this kind must not be scattered, reactive, without national organisation, or without a precise calculation of its political, diplomatic, military and human consequences.

In this painful moment, the Kurdistan Independence Party once again expresses its profound sympathy to the families of the martyrs, the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, the East Kurdistan Defence Units “PJAK,” and all freedom-seeking forces of Kurdistan.

We believe that the path to the liberation of Kurdistan is a difficult path, but a legitimate and historical one; a path that must be accompanied by political rationality, national unity, active diplomacy, preparedness and continuous organisation.

The occupying Iranian regime must understand that it cannot bury and end the question of Kurdistan through ambush, killing, terror and repression. The issue and question of Kurdistan is not merely the issue of one or several parties and movements; it is the issue of a nation. A nation that has the right to freedom, political sovereignty, human dignity and self-determination, and no authority can, through the force of arms, eliminate this legitimate and historical right.
