At dawn today, Monday, 26 Gelawej 2726 in the Kurdish calendar, corresponding to August 17, 2026, two bomb-laden drones launched by the occupying Iranian regime targeted the private office of His Excellency Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, as well as the residence of the Director of the Parastin Agency in the Pirmam area.
The Independence Party of Kurdistan strongly condemns these attacks on the political and security institutions of the Kurdistan Region and considers them a direct threat to the security, stability, and political will of the Kurdish nation in South Kurdistan.
The history of Kurdistan has proven that policies of threats, bombardment, and pressure have not been able to break the political will of the Kurdish nation. On the contrary, whenever Kurdistan has been subjected to aggression, national unity and solidarity have grown stronger. Today, too, all political forces and parties of Kurdistan, despite their political differences, must take a united position against any external attack or aggression.
The Independence Party of Kurdistan calls on the international community not to remain silent in the face of repeated attacks on the territory of South Kurdistan and to fulfil its responsibility to safeguard security and prevent the expansion of regional conflicts. Silence in the face of such acts of aggression will only serve as an incentive for their repetition.
